Today I woke up feeling anxious. Now I don’t normally wake up feeling anxiety but occasionally it does happen. That is when I decided to check in with myself and figure out what was going on.
On a logical level, my life is going great. I am happy, my friends and family are thriving, and my business is killing it. So what could it be?
This is when I remembered that I can’t out-logic my feelings or tell my emotions what to feel. Every time I try to do that my feelings will actually intensify.
I am a big fan of giving voice to my feelings and allowing myself the time and space I need to process what is really going on. Making sure I am not judging myself during this process is key.
The next thing I did was check in with my tools to help support my body and mind get through anxiety. In addition to meditation, these are activities such as meditation, exercise, eating healthy, doing a crossword puzzle, play some music or do something creative.
In the end, the best thing that I love to do to help myself when I am feeling anxious is to see if there is a way to reframe what I am experiencing and turn it into an opportunity to feel excitement instead of anxiety.
