Prevent Grey Hair and Wrinkles With This Easy-to-Make Black Sesame Seed Milk Recipe

Black sesame is a treasure of a superfood used often in Chinese medicinal formulas and food therapies. In Chinese medicine it is known to nourish blood and yin, which means that it is useful for premature greying of the hair, dry skin, feeling unfocused and spacey, brittle nails, and a wide array of other uses. Because of the connection between the health of our blood and the luster of our skin and hair, taking the time to nourish this way can even turn grey hairs dark again!

Black foods are known to nourish the kidney, and the standard American diet incorporates no black foods at all! Adding in some black sesame is a great way to get these vital nutrients.

Black sesame is a hidden treasure! Small in size, powerful in nutrition.

My favorite way to eat black sesame is to actually drink it! This delicious Black Sesame Seed Milk recipe is the best way to nourish and rejuvenate your hair and skin so they can return to their naturally luscious state.

Simple Steps for Black Sesame Seed Milk

½ cup black sesame seeds

2-2.5 cups of water

Sweetener to taste (honey, dates, coconut sweetener)

Buy your black sesame seeds at a health food store or coop, or you can order them online inexpensively.

Rinse your seeds and soak them in water overnight.

In your blender, add water, seeds, and your choice of sweetener (I recommend honey or dates). Blend all ingredients. You can also use a food processor.

Set aside a small amount to drink and warm the milk until it begins to steam. Be careful not to let it boil, as the seeds and water will separate. Drink it while it’s warm and delicious!  You can refrigerate the rest and it will keep for 3 days.

You can drink this treat every day if you like, it’s especially good as a comforting snack before bed, or added to a smoothie.

I hope you try this yummy, warm drink and let me know how you like it! You’ll be enjoying a special secret of Chinese medicine while making your Liver and Kidneys very happy. Enjoy!
