There are so many amazing benefits of honey! This magical gift of the bees is equally healing for our insides and our outsides. Our skin loves honey because it is gentle, nourishing, and moisturizing. Many exfoliants on the market are harsh and damaging, so honey is an excellent and nurturing alternative.
My top choice is always local and organic honey, when possible so that you are using the highest possible quality product on your precious face.
This sweet honey treatment stimulates collagen and elastin, increases circulation to the face (making you appear bright and youthful) while exfoliating away dead skin. You can use this once a week or more, just so long as your skin is not already irritated or has rosacea.
And it couldn’t be simpler!
Simple Honey Exfoliation
First, wash and dry your face.
Next, warm up a dime-sized amount of honey between your fingers. Using your body heat to warm the honey helps it to spread more easily and feel even more pleasant going on.
Now just begin spreading the sticky dime of honey onto a section of skin, pressing upward, and then popping the honey off. Move the honey to another section of skin and repeat. Always move upwards with your pressing as you allow the honey to remove dead skin cells. (The honey will turn whiter and whiter as more dead skin cells attached to it!)
Finally, just rinse with cold water and moisturize your face with a gentle, natural moisturizer you love like coconut oil or shea butter.
It is especially nice to sit in a quiet spot while you spend a few minutes doing this, sending love to you skin, and thinking kind thoughts about your face. Pat yourself on the back for taking the time to do something nice for yourself. Your future skin thanks you!
Another delicious way to get the soothing benefits onto your skin is to take a honey bath.
Honey Bath Instructions
Take a cup of preferably organic honey and pour it into the bath under the hot running water while filling the tub. Anywhere from 1-2 cups is a nice amount. Simply soak in the honey bath allow the honey to calm and nourish your skin.
For an, even more, skin cooling and calming bath, feel free to add organic powdered or liquid milk to your bath (½ cup of powdered, or 1 cup of liquid). This classic milk-and-honey combo will heal, soothe, and brighten your skin.
